These electronic documents in different formats can be converted to PDF format. The cover and book block of "drunk" were converted to PDF format before printing

when converting to PDF format, pay attention to some settings that affect the accuracy and font during the conversion process, so as to ensure that the accuracy is sufficient when printing and the font is not missing

the next task is to make book block. Fuji Xerox's docutech can achieve a maximum accuracy of 1200dpi, which is enough for printing black-and-white books

before printing, make up according to the size of the book. Most books are 32 folios, and the maximum output format of docutech is large octaves. Moreover, Fuji Xerox charges for printing sheets regardless of the size of the sheet, so the economic method is to print them in octaves. In this way, four pages can be printed at a time, and then cut them into four books. Fuji Xerox's DigiPath system has a very convenient jigsaw function, which solves problems with one command

consideration of using paper

we have made some sample books before, but some people always say that they don't look like a real book. An important reason is the use of ordinary copy paper. The paper is too thick, too white, and the silk direction of the paper is wrong. It feels stiff when reading, unlike a real book that can be rolled up easily

we are going to make a real book this time, so we consider using 65 ~ 70g/m2 paper with good stiffness, which is suitable for docutech's high speed, no paper jam, not too high whiteness, and a little yellow

the cover is printed with DC 2060 on 160g/m2 A3 Fuji Xerox colortech without coating. In the process of printing the cover, there are two points worth noting

first, the color used in the design of the cover. The amount of digital printing is small and the time is tight. There is no opportunity to work carefully on the color when printing, and there is not much time for experimentation. Therefore, colors that are easy to print should be used to develop strengths and circumvent weaknesses

the second is the alignment of the spine. Consider the convenience of binding when making the cover. The thickness of the book block paper we use now is different from the original book. The thickness of the book block is different. The width of the spine, including the size and position of the text on the spine, should be adjusted. In particular, there is an orange and white seam at the spine of the original, which has high requirements for binding and book block thickness control. To avoid trouble, we use PDF software to move this seam to the back cover

post press processing

bookbinding is required after the book block and cover are printed. The binding mentioned here is shown in Figure 1: binding, in fact, should be understood as post press processing in a broad sense

problems and experience that need attention in the process

first of all, there is no problem in the preparation of electronic documents. If you use Apple computer to print directly to DT 6135. Four commonly used founder postscript font libraries are installed in Fuji Xerox printing machine. The document adopts founder font, and the printing speed is quite fast, but it is quite difficult to solve the functions such as typesetting on Apple computer. If the book is typeset by the founder publishing system, it is simple. You can connect to DigiPath through PSP NT rip provided by founder, or use the latest process of Founder to convert it into PDF

secondly, we should find economical and suitable paper. It can't be too thick or too bad. It's best to bring a little yellow

third, it is best to print the cover with DC 2060, and DC 12 is also OK. Use Fuji Xerox coated paper or other color machine paper. It is easy not to use ordinary coated paper. The quality of paper has a great impact on the printing quality and machine maintenance. For unfamiliar paper, it is recommended to try it in a small range first, and then print it in large quantities after achieving ideal results. In addition, the cover design should pay attention to the characteristics of digital printing, develop strengths and circumvent weaknesses
